Article/Presentation Summary:

Patient experiences are a crucial component of the quality of care. However, efforts to incorporate
patient perceptions of care into trauma quality measurement and improvement have been limited.
Therefore, we developed and tested the first survey to measure patient experiences with overall
injury care. Key quantitative and qualitative results will be presented.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify key steps to development and testing of a patient-reported measure

2. Identify challenges to survey validity and reliability testing

3. Learn which areas of injury care may need improvement in Alberta trauma centres

The W21C Journal Club is a self-approved group learning activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of the Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
